Plain-language summary
My Finances helps you organize information; it does not manage money for you. You remain responsible for reviewing entries, imports, calculations, reports, forecasts and AI suggestions before relying on them. Keep independent backups and verify important information with authoritative sources and qualified professionals.
This summary is provided for convenience. The complete Terms below control.
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By downloading, installing, accessing or using My Finances (the “App”) or this website (the “Site”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App or Site.
You must be legally capable of agreeing to these Terms in your jurisdiction. If you use the App for another person, you represent that you have permission to do so and remain responsible for that use.
2. What My Finances provides
My Finances is a personal financial organization and tracking tool. Depending on the version and features you choose, it can help you:
- record accounts, income, expenses, transfers and card payments;
- organize recurring activity, budgets, goals, reminders and daily reviews;
- track investments, valuations, prices, foreign exchange and registered-account estimates;
- review imported statements and receipts before creating records;
- generate and export financial summaries and standalone HTML reports;
- optionally synchronize structured records to Google Sheets and create Google Drive backups; and
- use local or expressly configured cloud AI to interpret supported requests and prepare reviewable actions.
The App is offline-first and does not provide bank aggregation, custody, payment processing, brokerage, credit, tax filing or money-transmission services. It cannot initiate a bank transfer, credit-card payment or investment trade.
3. No financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice
Financial rules and laws can change and depend on individual circumstances. Registered-account contribution-room figures are estimates based on information you provide and are not CRA records. Market values, foreign-exchange rates and forecasts may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable. Consult the relevant institution, official government source or a qualified professional before making decisions.
You are solely responsible for financial decisions, filings, payments, trades, contribution limits and compliance obligations.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- enter and review information carefully, especially amounts, dates, account selection, exchange rates and imported data;
- verify balances, tax information, contribution room, investment data, reminders and reports against authoritative records;
- maintain appropriate independent backups and protect exported files;
- secure your device, Google account, email account, release files and third-party API credentials;
- use the App lawfully and only with information you are authorized to process; and
- avoid sending secrets, bank passwords, full account numbers, API keys or unredacted financial documents to support.
You must not misuse the App to violate law, infringe rights, distribute malicious content, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with services or misrepresent the App as a regulated financial service.
5. Google and other connected services
Google Sign-In, Drive, Sheets, Apps Script and Gmail features are optional and governed by Google’s terms and policies. My Finances requests basic identity and the narrow drive.file scope to manage files it creates or that you explicitly share with it. You are responsible for the Google account you connect and for cloud files you create, edit, share or delete.
Direct edits in Google Sheets can affect synchronized records after review. Conflict checks reduce accidental overwrite but cannot eliminate every risk caused by malformed edits, concurrent changes, provider outages or unsupported modifications.
Optional local-model downloads, Bank of Canada exchange-rate requests, external AI providers, GitHub Pages and other third-party services are controlled by their own terms, availability and privacy practices. You may be responsible for provider charges. We do not control or guarantee those services.
6. AI, OCR, imports and automation
Text recognition, document parsing, local models and external AI can make mistakes, omit information or misinterpret an instruction. Merchant, date, amount, category, duplicate and anomaly results are suggestions, not verified facts. Images and PDFs can be unreadable or incomplete.
The App limits AI to defined tools and requires review for financial changes, but these safeguards do not make model output infallible. You must inspect a proposed financial action before approval. Do not treat an assistant response as authoritative financial analysis.
Recurring auto-posting, reminders and scheduled reports depend on Android scheduling, device state, time zone, synchronization freshness and third-party availability. Delivery can be delayed or missed. Expected or unverified entries should be reconciled against real statements.
7. Your data, export and deletion
You retain responsibility for information you enter or import. Subject to third-party terms, you can use App features to export portable backup packages and HTML reports for personal use.
Moving an item to Trash may retain it for recovery and synchronization. Permanent deletion is intended to remove the applicable local record according to database integrity rules. It may not delete:
- an original file outside App-private storage;
- a backup, report, workbook or uploaded document already in Google Drive;
- a report already sent by email;
- data retained by an AI or other external provider; or
- copies you previously exported or shared.
Disconnecting an integration prevents future App use of that connection but does not necessarily delete information already stored by the provider. See the Privacy Policy’s retention and deletion section.
8. Limited licence and intellectual property
Subject to these Terms, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the App for lawful personal purposes. This licence does not transfer ownership of the App, Site, branding, design, documentation or underlying code.
Third-party libraries, local AI runtimes and downloadable models remain governed by their respective licences. Model availability in the App does not transfer ownership of those models or expand their upstream licences.
You may not remove proprietary notices, impersonate the App, use the branding misleadingly, distribute unauthorized modified builds, or reverse engineer the App except where applicable law expressly permits and does not allow that restriction.
9. Updates, availability and changes to features
The App may be updated to fix errors, improve security, support platform changes or revise features. Updates may require the same signing identity to preserve Android App data. Back up important records before updating or changing devices.
Features may be unavailable because of device capability, memory, storage, Android version, permissions, network access, Google configuration, third-party API changes, quotas, account restrictions or service outages. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanent availability of any feature or integration.
A release check may identify a newer version, but the App does not silently install it. You remain responsible for approving and installing updates from a source you trust.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App and Site are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, title and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that calculations, reports, imports, OCR, AI output, exchange rates, forecasts, reminders, synchronization, backups or restored records will always be accurate, current, complete, secure or suitable for your purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, My Finances and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of money, profits, opportunity, data, goodwill or business interruption arising from or related to the App, Site or connected services.
This includes loss arising from inaccurate entries, financial decisions, missed reminders, tax or contribution errors, failed synchronization, deleted or corrupted data, provider conduct, unauthorized account access, unavailable services or reliance on AI-generated or imported information.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations. In those jurisdictions, the provisions apply only to the extent permitted by law, and your non-waivable consumer rights remain unaffected.
12. Responsibility for misuse
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you are responsible for claims, losses or costs resulting from your unlawful misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person’s rights. This provision does not apply where prohibited by consumer-protection law.
13. Ending use
You may stop using the App at any time. Before uninstalling, export any records you want to retain and separately manage files stored in Google Drive or another provider. Uninstalling does not automatically delete those external files.
We may discontinue distribution or access to future updates, or restrict support for abusive or unlawful conduct. Because the core App is local, discontinuation does not promise that every installed feature will continue to work with future Android or third-party service changes.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the App, integrations or legal requirements change. Updated Terms will show a new effective date. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. If you do not accept revised Terms, stop using the App and preserve or delete your information as appropriate.
If one provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. Applicable law and mandatory consumer protections govern any rights that cannot be changed by contract.
